QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW IT WILL WORK

Who do I contact?

Primary contact is founder Dorine Gona, RN.  She will be more than happy to answer all of your questions and point you to the right department or entity to continue your journey of where your path and our needs meet the human condition.

Where is Liberia?

Liberia is in West Africa (see map) and was founded by the American Colonization Society in 1827 which sent ex slave and free people of color back to Africa.  It's a fascinating story full of tragedy and hope which still reverberates and impacts us today.

How long is my service required?

We like people to stay anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month.  This will depend on the contract you have with a number of volunteer agencies we work with.

Where will I stay?

We have accommodations for you at local hotels in Sanniquellie.  We are developing home stay with local residents that will both provide a more comfortable setting for you while at the same time develop the local economy.

What are the risks?

As in any foreign travel the risks are there.  Liberia has stabilized after a terrible and lengthy civil war.

How is this funded?

We are funded by your donations of time and/or money.  We are working on sustainable solutions such as home stay and eventual hotel/resort development that will help to defer costs and stimulate the local economy.

Who will I be working with?

You will be working with medical professionals mainly from the US, but from around the world as well as local health care professionals and volunteers.

How do we source our equipment donations?

We would like to work closely with organizations such as MedShare as well as directly with hospital in the US and private practices willing to donate their working medical equipment.
